Student Assistant
Carlo Uhl is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Technology Studies at the Technische Universität Berlin, with a minor in Computer Science. During his semester abroad at UC Berkeley, he studied sociology, computer science, and data ethics.
He has worked as an intern at the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi), conducting policy research on critical and emerging technologies, and as a visiting student researcher at UC Berkeley’s School of Information, where he examined the algorithmic amplification of political content on social media.
Carlo’s research lies at the intersection of sociology, politics, and data. His work focuses on mis- and disinformation on social media, the governance and accountability of digital platforms, and the ways algorithmic systems shape public discourse and trust in information.
Since September 2023, he has been a student assistant in the research group “Digital Economy, Internet Ecosystem, and Internet Policy” at the Weizenbaum Institute.
